Queensland-based major project delivery company, Veldon Group Pty Ltd (Veldon), has partnered with GMMCO Technology Services Limited (GTS), a subsidiary of the global conglomerate CKA Birla Group, to deliver a multi-million-dollar bankable feasibility study for the new world class coking coal project, Minas de Revuboè (MdR) in Mozambique.

Officially announced today at a signing ceremony in Sydney at IMARC 2025 with support from Trade & Investment Queensland (TIQ), the Veldon and GTS Global Partnership Agreement reflects the strength and innovation of Queensland’s mining, technology and services sector, and represents Australia’s competitive edge in delivering world-class solutions to complex mining challenges globally.

For Veldon, this partnership is crucial, not only for its own mission in providing a much-needed local alternative for major project delivery, but also for strengthening Australia’s position as a global force in providing technical expertise across the full mining project lifecycle.

The feasibility study for MdR Project marks the first project to be jointly delivered by Veldon and GTS. The MdR Project boasts a world class coal asset with mineable reserves of over 800 million tonnes for steel production.

Mr Stephen Downs, Chairman & Director of Veldon, said that while the project presents significant logistical challenges due to its remote location and infrastructure constraints, Veldon and GTS’ combined team possess the background and industry-leading expertise to complete the project.

“The Minas de Revuboè feasibility study will be delivered in a short 7-month timeframe and is a strategically significant project for MdR. Thanks to our demonstrated technical capability, collaborative practices and prior experience in Mozambique, we feel confident that the unique feasibility study delivery model we have designed with GTS can overcome the project’s challenges and be delivered on schedule,”Mr Downs said.

Mr Mark Gregory, CEO & Director of Veldon, said the Veldon GTS partnership and its distinctive contracting model have been developed in great detail over the last 12-months to ensure that together the two companies have the capability and scalability to tackle any project with a collaborative and hands-on approach.

“To be given the opportunity to deliver this large-scale project is an honour and we look forward to partnering on many more projects of this scale with GTS in the future,” Mr. Gregory said.

“This partnership is an example of Veldon’s mission in action, which is to provide a fully integrated project delivery model that is collaborative, cost-efficient and client focused. Our client’s success is our success.”

Mr Manvender Bharti, Chief Operating Officer, GTS, said, “As a leading specialist services provider in the construction, mining and energy sectors, it is significant for us to have found a collaborative partner in Veldon.”

“Veldon’s dedication to delivering full-cycle solutions to complex projects is a value that we share at GTS, and we look forward to working with them to offer a powerful platform to deliver integrated technical, engineering and project delivery services worldwide. Together we are a global consulting force, and we deliver exceptional results for our clients on our current international projects. We would be blessed to develop major projects here in Australia,” Mr. Bharti said.

Veldon and GTS have already commenced work, with the MdR Project currently 30 per cent complete and set to be delivered in full in February 2026.

Over the past two years, Veldon has established a strong track record and demonstrated strong sector diversity, having secured 30 projects with 21 clients across mining, critical minerals, coal, renewable energy, power stations, and urban infrastructure.

The official signing ceremony formalising the partnership between Veldon and GTS was witnessed by Queensland Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training, the Hon. Ros Bates, alongside representatives from Trade & Investment Queensland.

In her remarks during the signing ceremony, the Hon. Ros Bates reflected on the importance of this new Global Partnership Agreement and acknowledged the significance of trusted partnerships like Veldon and GTS in driving innovation, productivity and sustainability in one of the world’s most vital industries. She also praised Veldon for representing the ability of Queensland’s METS companies to deliver world-class solutions to complex mining challenges around the world.

Following the IMARC Conference signing ceremony, Veldon and GTS will reconvene in India next week at the IME Conference for the official signing of the MdR Project and a formal introduction of their Global Partnership to the international mining community gathering at the conference.

The award of the MdR feasibility study, following a highly competitive tender process, cements Veldon’s position as a global consulting firm capable of delivering a unique and comprehensive suite of services that is now further enhanced by the international capacity and expertise of GTS.
